In a world where the technology to enter someone’s dreams exists, a highly skilled thief and fugitive (Leonardo DiCaprio) finds a chance for redemption and a ticket home with one last job.  He and his team of extraction specialists must plant a suggestion into a man’s mind without him knowing what has taken place.  And, the only way to do this is to go into a dream within a dream within a dream.  He must, however, confront the demons that plague his dreams and invade the dreams of others.

Simply said, this film is magnificent: a wonderfully written and acted psychological thriller and a visually amazing science fiction.  There is so much action going on that you don’t realize how much time has actually passed.  And the film exponentially increases the amount of time with every dream level they delve further into.  Not only is this film action packed, the cast is filled with so many great actors: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai”, “Batman Begins”), Dileep Rao (“Avatar”, “Drag Me To Hell”), Cillian Murphy (“Batman Begins”,”Sunshine”), Tom Hardy (“Bronson”, “RockNRolla”), and Marion Cotilliard (“Public Enemies”, “La Vie en Rose”) just to name a few.  Many of these people have worked with director Christopher Nolan in the past and they seem to continue working well with each other. As for Leonardo DiCaprio, this is his second psychological thriller in 2010 after Shutter Island, and he has easily become an expert in the art of the total mind-fuck.

I can’t say too much about the story or plot of the film other than it is reminiscent of films such as eXistenZ, The Matrix, and The Thirteenth Floor.  I must say though, that it is becoming quite refreshing to see films that put the science back in science fiction and not have the science fiction purely be about outer space.  My recommendation is leave your home, get into your car, drive to the nearest cinema and watch this movie!
