People who know me know that I watch a lot of movies, and as a matter of fact some of my friends only call me when there’s some sort of movie related question to be answered.   After little thought, I would tell people I had watched 500 movies in 2009; maybe 50 of those were in the theater and the other 450 were on TV or DVD, and of those  maybe a total of 200 were movies I had never seen.   I really thought about that for a while though; did I really watch 500 total films and for that matter 250 new films in a year?  I have a tendency to watch more than one movie at a time when I’m at home relaxing,  and have even watched as many as 6 on a random Sunday.  So, the possibility was there that I had actually watched that many films.

In order to answer that question honestly though, I’ve decided to conduct a one year experiment; a challenge, if you will.  My goal is to watch 365 films that I have never seen before in the span of 365 days.

My criteria are as follows:

The movies must be full length, meaning it must be at least 40 minutes or longer and feature length, direct-to-video or television movie production.

I must watch the movie in it’s entirety (although I’m debating whether or not that means watching the credits as well).

It must be a film that I have not seen as of yet or not fully watched in my lifetime.

I will be watching the films on/at:

Various cinemas in my area (Thank you MovieWatcher rewards!)

TV (mostly through HBO or other various movie channels);

DVD  (my current collection is at 250 films, many of which I still have yet to watch), BluRay or HD-DVD (Yes, the BetaMax of the new millenium)

I can watch as many movies in a day as I want, as long as by the end of the year, I watch at least 365 films.

With that said, I started the challenge as of January 1st of 2010.  I have currently watched 14 films which I will be documenting and reviewing shortly.

The films I am looking forward to watching in 2010 are:

Youth in Revolt
Frozen
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
The Wolfman
Alice in Wonderland
Hot Tub Time Machine
Clash of the Titans
The Runaways
Season of the Witch
Clash of the Titans
How to Train Your Dragon
Repo Men
Date Night
Kick-Ass
Machete
MacGruber
A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake)
Iron Man 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
The A-Team
Jonah Hex
Toy Story 3
Grown Ups
The Last Airbender
Knight & Day
Predators
Despicable Me
Inception
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Little Fockers
The Expendables
Priest

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

I also plan on watching many, if not all, of the films on the AFI top 100 list.

If there are any movies that you think I should watch, please let me know.
